Sculptures :: Birds :: Small Birds :: Wading Birds

Waders : Little Stint (Calidris minuta), Curlew Sandpiper (Calidris ferruginea), Chestnut-Banded Plover (Charadrius pallidus)

This bronze was inspired by watching the many diverse waders in the Plettenberg Bay lagoon. It was the first bronze to be made with a polyurethane base. The refraction of light forms the ripples below the surface. Mud-prawn holes, pencil-bait holes, a hermit crab and a broken piece of pansy shell are all sculpted in the rippled sand.
