Sculptures :: Wildlife :: Cape Clawless Otters with Crayfish

Cape Clawless Otters with Crayfish. (Lutra maculicollis)

I have a real soft spot for these animals. It so amazing watching them swimming and lying basking themselves with the sun rays. I decided that a pair was quite appropriate as they are often seen in pairs. They have often been sculpted with crabs but I thought after seeing a beautiful photo of them with crayfish that this is what I would do. After speaking to Nature conservation here in Plettenberg Bay I discovered that there had been an otter that had unfortunately been run over. They kindly loaned this to me. I enjoyed giving the otters the look of surprise as they attempt to tackle their crayfish prey.
